Sustainability mission statement of the Bad Vilbel Tourist Information
Our self-image
Bad Vilbel Tourist Information shapes tourism responsibly—in harmony with nature, people, and the future. We see sustainability not as a static goal, but as an ongoing process that is environmentally mindful, socially fair, and economically viable.
Bad Vilbel is known for its unique natural surroundings, its vibrant community, and its long-standing spa and spring culture. We want to preserve these values while promoting tourism that creates long-term benefits for visitors, locals, and future generations.
Our mission statement serves as guidance, aspiration, and commitment all at once.
Responsibility and implementation
Our sustainability mission statement is implemented by the Bad Vilbel Tourist Information team in close coordination with the city administration, tourism service providers, associations, and partner businesses. Sustainability is understood as a cross-cutting task and is reviewed regularly.
The measures to implement the mission statement will be:
- reviewed internally every year,
- integrated into strategic tourism planning,
- and made transparent to the public.
We align ourselves with the criteria of the United Nations (UN), the German Tourism Association (DTV), and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), and we maintain an exchange with other sustainable destinations.
Our principles
1. Nature conservation and environmental compatibility
- Protecting natural resources through waste prevention, energy efficiency, and water-saving measures in our facility and at events.
- Promoting sustainable mobility by providing information on eco-friendly travel options (public transport, bicycle) and on site through accessible, nature-friendly paths.
- Raising visitors’ awareness of the value of our natural and cultural landscapes through information boards, themed guided tours, and family-friendly offers.
- Special protection of the riversNidda and Nidder as well as the surrounding floodplains, forests, and traditional orchards as part of our natural heritage.
2. Economic sustainability
- Strengthening the local tourism economy through preferential cooperation with regional providers.
