NATURA TRAIL
What is a Natura Trail?
Natura Trails lead as hiking trails through Natura 2000 areas, an EU-wide network of protected areas for the conservation of biodiversity.
For sustainable tourism, there are 150 Natura Trails in Germany, mostly created by volunteers, with more in Europe.
Bad Vilbel’s scenic diversity
The Bad Vilbel trail is titled “From the Berger Wiesen to the Wetterau”. You can discover the “Berger Warte” fauna-flora-habitat area as well as the “Wetterau” bird sanctuary. Further highlights on this varied hike include the biotope at the former shooting range, extensive traditional orchards, the “Path of Depth”, and the partially renaturalized rivers Nidder and Nidda.
Electronic Navigation
The trail is not waymarked but must be followed using electronic aids (mobile phone, tablet, watch). The GPX file required for the hike can be downloaded here.
The Natura Trail leaflet with route description can be obtained from the Bad Vilbel Tourist Information office or downloaded here.
