Play, Movement, Interesting Facts

Vicus Romanus is an innovative adventure and experience landscape in the form of a public green space with numerous play and sports equipment. It promotes physical activity, enables encounters, protects health, and provides interesting facts about the region’s Roman past.

The concept was developed in collaboration with children, citizens, and experts, and the facility was ultimately built with creativity and attention to detail. It is more than a playground—it offers everyone the opportunity to share the joy of movement with others.

The approximately 10,000 m² play and activity area is located in Butzbach-Degerfeld on Oberer Lachenweg. Right in the core zone of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes” and immediately southwest of the significant Roman fort.

Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM–9:30 PM, Sundays and public holidays 9:00 AM–9:30 PM. Admission is free.
