A real Roman watchtower<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1692344853989{margin-top: 30px !important;margin-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]The Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes is Germany\u2019s largest and best-known archaeological monument; 41.6 km run through the Wetterau district in a striking northward bulge.<\/p>\n

Its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List earned it the highest international recognition.<\/p>\n

The Wetterau region is home to numerous Roman traces. A total of 72 tower sites, 16 small forts and 7 forts are known; some of them have been reconstructed as part of Limes projects and opened up to visitors. <\/p>\n

One of the most spectacular initiatives of recent years on the Wetterau Limes is the authentic reconstruction of a Limes watchtower in Limeshain-Rommelhausen. In its design, it reflects the current state of research on the period when it was built.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]It is an archaeological experiment; its construction follows the ancient models as closely as possible and the findings gained from excavations at various watchtower sites along this section of the Limes.<\/p>\n
